Petroleum, anyone?

Thanksgiving this year promised to be a bit different. Yes, it did. I was not cooking the traditional meal. In fact, I wasn't cooking at all.

My little family was invited to spend Thanksgiving with my cousin and all of her family for a lunch at a very special club... The Petroleum Club.
What's it all about, Alphie?

The Club symbolizes how Texans view themselves: Texas bold, Texas proud, Texas unique.

and

Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2003, the Club continues to serve its members with the finest dining, entertainment and atmosphere.

And they weren't kidding. We are three little folk from San Dimas, California. A nice town. But we don't got no Petroleum Clubs there.

Here are a few photos of what I saw online, letting me know what I what I was up against.

Kind of has a White House feel to it, don'tcha think?

And hey, I can handle swanky. I really can. But my main concern was for Friday. The day after Thanksgiving...

You see, I LOVE Thanksgiving leftovers. I do. Turkey sandwiches always taste so good on the friday after Thanksgiving.

And I had a sneaking suspicion that I wasn't going to be able to take a doggy bag home from the White House. I mean The Petroleum Club. I was thinking that The P.C. might frown on that.

But all was not lost. Know what I did ahead of time? I visited The Boston Market and ordered us up a full Thanksgiving feast for Friday. Yep, I did. It'll be ready Friday at noon. Serves six. There's three of us. LOTS of leftovers for me! Hey, if you're in the area? Stop on in. I'll be chowin' down on all the fixin's that The Petroleum Club wouldn't let me take home in a styrofoam box.

Tomorrow I'll post photos of how our Thanksgiving meal really transpired... In short, I was quite wrong. The Petroleum Club won favor with each of us Kahles.
