As of Wednesday the 9th, Rick and I will have been married for 20 years. TWENTY YEARS! Imagine that.
Before I tell you how I’ve managed to accomplish this magnificent feat, let me tell you quickly that there was a time we didn’t expect to make it to year eight. Nope. Life took an interesting turn at year eight. Rick became very ill, was not expected to live… and I had already begun to plan my life as a widow. It was that serious.
However, Rick recovered and I have never forgotten the time that I was fearing my future without him.
And in true Kris fashion, I have found a way to celebrate my 20th anniversary with Rick. A way that will make you all jealous. A way that will amaze anyone that had doubts about my marriage. A way that will truly honor the man that I love, cherish and revere.
Today, I flushed my wedding ring down the toilet.
Oh, don’t give me that… I didn’t mean to. It just slipped off my finger and whoosh! It went down as the toilet was flushing… Yes, it went.
But 20 years of marriage couldn’t end with one little ring flushing, could it?
I meekly called Rick and told him what happened. Know what he said?
GO TELL THE JANITOR!!! NOW!!!!
And here I expected him to say he’d buy me a new one. Silly me.
