Time to die

I got home from my first day back at work only to hear Rick say, "Wow. You look frazzled."

Then the phone rang and I learned that my car was ready to be picked up. It had only been in the shop for, oh, 4 weeks? Yes, it was time for it to come home. So, off I went.

I returned with my car, about an hour later, even more frazzled... only to find my husband sitting on the couch, eating lasagna and garlic bread... what I had already planned for our dinner.

"Uh, couldn't you have waited?"

"Well, I thought you'd go out to eat."

"By myself? Excuse me, but I just finished a harrowing day at work... and then raced off to get my car... tired to the bone... and here you sit, eating."

"So, am I in trouble?"

"Oh, no. I've never been happier with you... but I am expecting flowers tomorrow."

He paused, thought about it for a moment and said...

"What for?"

Midnight moves out of her doggy bed tonight... there's no room for both she and Rick in there.
