Oh that Austin...

Austin IS weird. Did I mention that that's the theme of the city? Yep, you can buy T shirts and coffee mugs and key chains, all with the slogan of "Keep Austin Weird" on them. And no, I didn't buy any.



But as weird as they are, they are a compassionate bunch. When I first saw this street sign I thought, "Now I've REALLY seen everything." But the more I thought about it, the more I decided that they are just a caring bunch of folk. I guess. I mean, who else would bother to make sure that the hearing impaired can get safely across the street?



And it's good that there's hearing impaired people in Austin. They don't have to listen to the bats screaming at night...

By the way, I found this statue in the center of town. I think it must be what the city is most proud of. Either that or the town is just plain batty. Maybe that's a statue of their mayor...
