Big Brother IS watching!

This email was delivered to everyone at one of the elementary schools that I work at... take note, I said ELEMENTARY schools. I am amazed that elementary students are learning this song... and delighted that folks are noticing when something goes awry.

I know this episode has opened up a discussion for what should be done, must be done and what has always been done in the past. Thank goodness some traditions are still important!!

Hello all,

I was in the hall yesterday, talking with an administrator who had just walked by some classrooms during the morning announcements. He had noticed that some classes were not standing during the Star Spangled Banner.

Please encourage your students to stand during this song for we are not singing this song for mere entertainment but for respect for our country. Please remind students to remain standing and have their hand over their heart during this song, after the pledges. 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades should know this song by heart (or close to it)!

Thank you for your cooperation and participation in a morning tradition sung throughout this great nation and through many generations!
