I went to school today.

I learned something, too.  Not only did I learn that my summer was WAY too short, I learned something else.  I learned that simple things are complicated and complicated things are even complicateder.  Yep, that's a word.  I just decided.

I sat in a meeting today... a LONG meeting... and was taught how to make my life simpler.

Instead of emailing our computer person when we have computer problems, we will now communicate with them in a new way.  This new way will make life easier... for them.  And only for them.

You see, if we have computer problems and we need repair, we will click on the school website, choose this tab, click on this tab, choose this option, click here, click there, click all over the place.... then when we see the little box that comes up, we will then enter our names, our locations and give a brief explanation of what is wrong and what we need.

THIS makes it easier on the IT person.  THIS does not make it easier on me.

ESPECIALLY IF MY COMPUTER ISN'T WORKING!!!!!  The old way of just sending an email wouldn't even work in this situation IF MY COMPUTER ISN'T WORKING!

My boss, the facilitator of this training exercise did offer up one other suggestion.  He said, and I quote, "or you could just pick up the phone."

Assuming the phone still worked.  I mean really... it's so old-fashioned.
