Name That Flick

Just got word that I'm going to see a movie with my daughter on June 14th.  I was told (by my daughter) that it will be only us and we shall eat dinner first and we shall laugh and giggle and make a lot of fun of the movie.  Liz told me, "Even though you don't like movies ... you will love this one."

And I will.

And I will go.  It will be a tale to tell her grandchildren, that's for sure.

Wanna guess the movie?

Here's a tip:  Elizabeth has a friend who "created" this movie.

2nd tip:  When Elizabeth was in preschool, she was friends with a boy named Nicky.  I was friends with Nicky's mother, Melvalynn.  Both Nicky and Melvalynn "created" this story.  Unintentionally.  Well, Nicky did.  His mom just came along for the ride; she had no choice.  No one really wanted to create this story.  No one is any too proud to be a part of this movie, I'm sure.

So ... this little preschool friend of hers grew up ... and got himself a hobby ... and made some history.  LOTS o' history.

Any ideas?  Give up?

On June 14th, Elizabeth and I will be going to see "The Bling Ring".  Yes, Elizabeth was buddies with the ringleader of the BLING RING.  Thank you, Nicky Prugo.  Thank you for giving me a reason to see movies again!

Nicky Prugo and his compadres - not Elizabeth, thank you - made history by breaking into stars' homes and stealing their clothes and jewelry ... most notably, Paris Hilton, Mischa Barton, Lyndsay Lohan and Audrina Patridge.

The promo says ... "Inspired by actual events, a group of fame-obsessed teenagers use the internet to track celebrities' whereabouts in order to rob their homes."

Good to know the internet is useful for something.  Good to know that movies sometimes chronicle real life.  Good to know that Melvalynn raised up a fine young man.  Good to know that Melvalynn has gone into hiding.  I know this because I tried to find her.  Not to chastise her ... more to thank her for bringing me back to the movies again.  I've been wanting some buttered popcorn.
