birthday ... gifts?

So, I celebrated my 29th birthday with family last night and I had a big, big surprise during our dinner.

We all got together at Two Rows, a restaurant in Allen, TX that Elizabeth can eat at and we had a good ol' time.  Well, until I obeyed my mother, that is.

For dinner, I opted for a big ol' cheeseburger.  Hey, it's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to.  Yes, it had onions on it.  But yes, I ate a cheeseburger.  And even though I was also dying for a baked potato, I chose against it.  Ya know, too much starch, too many carbs.  Yeah, I opted to listen to my mother and eat my veggies ... even on my birthday.  But you know what?  MOTHER WAS WRONG!

I did order the veggies and they arrived al dente.  And because they were dente, they dented my back tooth.  No, not just dented it ... those ridiculously crunchy vegetables tore my tooth up.  The same tooth that a tootsie roll tried to ruin a few weeks ago ... except the carrots were successful in ripping it to shreds.

The results:  Tooth is history.  It will be extracted next week.  The dentist couldn't fit me in this week.  I guess pain and blood count for nothing.

And the moral of the story:  Don't eat carrots.  Or tootsie rolls.  Or hamburgers.  Or anything right now.  Well, water might be okay.  Unless it's cold.  Oh, just thinking about cold water makes me quiver.

Wanna see one of my birthday gifts?  It's from my daughter.  My dear, darling daughter.

It's a cooler.  For food.  It stores FOOD.  I'd like to say I'm insulted by this... but, uh, the jokes on her.  'Cause until my toof gets fixeded, I'm not into food all that much.
