We interrupt this program...

It has been a long, long day today ... but I'll jump straight to the punch and say that Rick has been cleared for surgery.  Was it a 'shoe in'?  Probably. It always is. But this one did give me cause to stress.

It wasn't a standard 20 - 30 minute chemical stress test. Nope, not at all.  Instead, Rick had to be hooked up to all kinds of machines and loaded up with a nuclear dye. He had to be de-fooded (don't ask) and then I had to run get him lunch so he could be tested a 2nd time all fooded up.  I fooded myself up, too, once or twice. I had to. I drove by a Del Taco and, well, I can never just drive right on by a Del Taco.  It just wouldn't be right.

I wasn't sure what Rick could eat so I just picked him up a sandwich from 7-11. ***  Yeah, he had the same reaction.

So, long day or not, pre-op or not, stress test or not, Rick's surgery is going to happen.   I can't help thinking back to when we first heard the news.  Rick was shocked and then scared.  I was elated. I so wanted him to be pain-free so I was all for it.

No one is elated now. Nor excited nor calm nor anything of that nature. Our house is somber.

And we need prayer.  Lots o' prayer.  Please.

We will report to the hospital at 5:30 AM for a surgery start time of 7:00 AM.

If nothing else, please pray that we get some rest tonight or if you're an AM reader, throw up a prayer that we get to the hospital on time. Yeah, that's the first thing to pray for!

Life is good.  Life is about to become even better for Rick. It has to.

;)
