Due to the massive ice storms last month here in Frisco (and all of North Texas actually,) a Christmas play that I had wanted to see was cancelled. Well, postponed ... until tonight. And because my husband was away (if you count being in the hospital away) and my daughter had just arrived home under the weather (if you count dragging her sick sick body up onto my doorstep under the weather) and the dog was still paralyzed with her bladder infection (if you count ... never mind) I attended said Christmas play tonight.
Did I go just to escape my life? No. I actually was the ticket taker tonight and I'd agreed to that job long before any of the distractions around me had even happened. Did I want to see the show? Yes. So, did I have to go? Yes and no.
Anyway, I went. I took me some tickets and then I was able to see the show, too. That's one of the perks of being a ticket taker. And a refreshment lady. And an usher. Heck, I've done it all. Anything to get to see the shows for free.
I had intended to only stay until intermission due to Rick's absence and Elizabeth's illness and the dog's problems ... and because I hadn't eaten dinner yet, but I stayed well past that. I stayed all the way to the end of the show even. And because I did that ... well, you'll never believe what happened next. The producer of the current show offered me a part in the next show. Well, the next show that's already in production and about to open.
And ... because I don't have anything else going on in my life right now ... I said yes.
WHY DID I DO THAT????
Because it was there.
